It's been awhile

This year has been a blessing and well, the opposite.

I got married.
Welcomed my first niece in November. Met her just last week!
Spent this past Christmas with M's family for the first time.
Have worked some crazy hours which finally pushed me to find a new job. New Year new job in 2012!
And have been battling depression and anxiety which has been under wraps since my junior year in high school.

As I move forward into 2012 I hope to work on the personal issues, boost our savings (I know corny), learn to love life more, relax, and crossing my fingers in hopes to finally enjoy my job again!

Cheers to a new year and wiping the slate "clean".

Thank goodness this week is over! Seriously I am amazed that someone or many someones are still alive. This week seemed to go on forever! Or maybe that is because last week ran into this week since I worked last weekend. Ah crap and literally just got the phone call M's G-ma passed today. I know things could be worse it just seems that everything piles on top of one another at the same time.

So in order to pick up my spirits I am going to rehash my wonderful photographer Candice at Serendipity Studios. Oh so many pretty's.

Remember wayyyyy back when I gave you a tiny tiny peak of the shoes, and then I shared some pictures here and here. But here they are in their full glory. I love you Louboutin.

Which can be found here any near any of the wharfs, but look now they are online. Seriously these are the biggest seller in the city. Now why does this come up? Because I have been wearing this guy all week:

Honestly I think Northern California keeps North Face in business. Don't get me wrong I am by no means complaining, my favorite outfit is jeans, a sweater and my chucks, but for the east bay it is weird. Next week we are supposed to be back up into the 80's though so for the time being I am going to soak up my mid 70 days and below 60 nights.

Certainly going to enjoy some of this "outside weather" this weekend. Here is to a very stressful week being almost over and to our project hopefully getting way more progress this weekend. What project, oh this one.

The retaining wall that started falling down hard core after one of our last big storms, remember here. So we have been working hard this week and has gotten to this point, who am I kidding M has done all the work. The wall is out, and the digging has begun. Now the post holes have to be dug and cement and poles in then the wood actually has to be placed back and then the dirt will then have to be refilled in. Oh and draining is being added, we he DOES NOT want to do this again.

In good news about this is hopefully i can get those planks sanded down well enough to make our very own reclaimed wood table! Woop woop that would be awesome. So here is to a busy weekend.

So he finally made it home! Friday night late night M finally made it back, I was long asleep but you better believe Chloe met him at the door. Pretty sure that was enough for him, besides my butt does not waggle and my whole body does not shake.

So Saturday what did M want to do? We headed to Home Depot. This was of course because I had given him a slight nudge to fix the leaking sprinkler so I could stop having to water the front lawn. So M has been obsessed with his garden and this weekend we went one step further in making sure we are prepping the soil as best as we can. We started our first compost bin.

So I am a big follower of the DIY extraordinaire, the Petersiks over at Young House Love and of course they have done the compost bin so I got to simply got to copy what the did. So we took our simple $5 Rubbermaid bin.

And started composting. Some grass, coffee grounds, and old apples. We are on our way to better nutrient rich soil (as compared to the weed filled sand the previous owners tended to the 5 years before we moved in.

Maybe next up we will try the rain barrel?

Seriously this heat is killing me! The fact that I can open the windows tonight I am absolutely loving. Call me a wimp but I grew up in the middle of the bay, literally on an island in the bay. So when temperatures are in the high 90's and 100's I turn into a big whiny baby and stay in doors. I hope the cooler whether sticks around for the weekend because my yard is screaming, "help me". Our wine barrel guest book is calling to be sealed, and Chloe is dying for an open space walk. So here is to crossing our fingers that it will at least cool down to below 90, oh that would be lovely.

I wish I had some fun story to go along with it but I was at home on the couch just waiting for M to call. And then it happened, the 3G went to iPhone heaven. My phone has been a trusty phone over the last couple of years but last night, it drowned itself. Yep, seriously drowned in a glass of water, as it was dying it allowed me one last call (so kind). So first thing today I up and went down and got myself a new friend.

I am going to call her Tabitha, and of course she is a girl because I went white, after the first phone being black and the ipod being black I decided to make the change. So iPhone 5 when you come out, suck it, 4 is way better (I was waiting for the 5 so the death of my first one, sad day).

That's all, except I am still waiting for M to come home, now it is supposed to be Friday, we'll see.

Hello hello. So excited the long weekend has just started. Technically we had a company holiday today as well but due to it being the first day of a quarter close that so did not happen for me. So I am about to get this party started. 1 minor thing, I am doing it minus this guy

From the day we got engaged, over a year and a half ago!

Yeah he is stuck in Canada this weekend working. I love it when their company creates a good product some plant spends millions of dollars buying it and having it installed and then pay somebody pennies to oversea the use of it. Really don't you know the product has to be maintained!??!!!

So while I am off pouting he is missing out on a weekend full of things he loves the best, BBQ and friends. I am off to sulk now, have a great Fourth of July!

Our Wedding

M and I decided we were going to do a first look which I am so happy we did! Doing the first look allowed for so many great shots of the two of us. So while we were out doing our pictures our wedding party was doing things like this:

of course the boys were busy drinking not only beers but tequila as well. Which led to M giving a LOT of expressions like the one below trying to get the boys on board for pictures.

But all is well because when it came down to it the guys straightened up and got it all done and we have some pretty awesome pictures.

Here are all the "sisters" my two sisters and my sister-in-law who is due in November! Yep going to be an Auntie right here.

Big Bro and sister-in-law, love how my brother even wore a purple shirt since he was doing the reading.

I actually really like this picture although I am pretty sure M is telling me how annoying the boys are since they drank the entire bottle.

So here we are the end of June and seems like we are going to end the month the same way we started it, with rain. Record breaking amounts of rain for June, this is seriously making M not a happy camper.

In other news my sister finally got some of our wedding pictures up online for all to see and of course I am going to show some of them off because well this is my blog and I say so.

The week started out on Wednesday with our church ceremony. Since we wanted our marriage to be recognized by the Catholic Church we worked with our priest and had a ceremony in the church previous to our ceremony on Friday.

Thursday morning my sister and I woke up bright and early and headed to the SF flower mart to pick out all the flowers for the wedding. Seriously I was up at 6 a.m. on a day off, unheard of. M took off to take our cinematographer skydiving, seriously he was the one who wanted flowers why was I the one up early to go get them while he got to go skydiving!?!?! So next up the rehearsal.

This one I would call, scolding M for being 20 minutes late to his own rehearsal. Why? Because he thought it was important to get a beer at the hotel and meet the hotel bar tender. MEN!@#

So while we were waiting for the groom to arrive we decided to take a family photo. After we finally wrapped up we headed over to Casa Orozco for dinner. Pretty good food but it had an awesome outdoor space. With the group we had in tow we spent more on drinks then we did on food!

Oh yes that is me and tequila, tequila es no bueno.

From the tequila I headed back to the hotel, not to get my beauty sleep but to finish the flowers up.

So the night before was a bit busy but would not have changed doing the flowers myself for anything. They turned out exactly how I had envisioned and wanted, nothing to done up, much more organic wildflower feel. Then off to bed since the next day was the big day.

Until I get my life together again (i.e. laundry, clean house, write thank yous, finish putting the corner of gifts away) I will be sharing pictures cause really who wants to know the daily details of getting my house orderly again? And I need to get it orderly again so I can start an outlet for my creative side again. Maybe build some more furniture, make throw pillows for the seesters. Thinking these pillows from Ballard Designs would be really fun to make for one of the seesters

Through the thick of it

So anyone who thinks planning your wedding is absolutely amazballs, piss off. Don't get me wrong I have really enjoyed putting certain things together and thinking up other things but since I am doing a lot of the details myself I just get frustrated.

My type A, detail oriented accountant mind just gets annoyed and frustrated when things are not aligning perfectly or off centered just a tad.

Take the fan programs for instance, while putting the popsicle stick in the center, they do not all align at the same place. It is driving me nuts and makes me want to toss them all and start over. The beer bottle labels, not all are perfectly straight and all I want to do is say, nope now way, these are not being handed out. Seriously, 99% of our guests will not take notice (the 1% being the people I gripe to about it so they will probably take notice, even though they still won't care), but yet in my head I think no way, no how do I want this to show who I am. Because well it's not, but who has the time to take to make sure all 100 beer labels are perfectly straight or the popsicle stick is in the complete center of the fan.

Seriously I have other things to worry about. Like the 4 people we have staying with us next week or the fact that I asked M to weed the backyard and he completely hacked away part of our landscaping. Yeah my boy has complete ADD and gets a little carried away. Uhhh here is to the next million years of my life.

Bridal Shower

I wish I had more pictures of the decorations and stuff my sisters did a lovely job. Here is one though. The table was covered with bags of peanuts and the favors? Popcorn balls, such one of my favorites!

Pretty sure this weather lies too because it was apparently not sunny at all this past Saturday. Myself, I wouldn't know, I spent the weekend in Vegas! Bachlorette style, minus the pink boas and sashes (I did submit to some simple beads) of course Mmmmm perfect 85 desert, so nice.

Met this guy this past weekend too. I then proceeded to tell him that he plays with Jay and I know that because my fiance was a huge Denver fan. My sister patted his ass as she drooled all over him. He was pretty cute but the designer jeans with the huge pockets on a guy is a huge turn-off for me.

I know I-Phone pictures are the best (please hurry up with the new one so I can FINALLY upgrade from my 3G).

Speaking of Vegas the Hangover II comes out next weekend. Woop woop, you know where I will be.

Strongest people I know

Last night we got a call from M's dad telling him that his grandfather was on life support and if things did not turn around within 24 hours he would be taken off (his wishes). Today things have turned around. His grandfathers latest stint in the hospital is courtesy of pneumonia and aspirated while eating. Today things are positive.

Last year M and I made an emergency trip back to Pennsylvania to visit his grandmother because things were not well, down to her pulling her feeding tube out because she viewed this as keeping her alive artificially. Se has since seen the hospital numerous times but continues to make it home each time. The latest was last week which as M put it "they were making funeral arrangements" and once again she is resting at home.

These two people have more strength and desire to continue each day then I have ever seen. It amazes me and gives me a kick in the butt to shape up my life and know there MUST be something to look forward to daily.

Mother's Day

Mothers day was wonderful. My sisters took my mom and the pups to Fort Funston which is the most fantastic place for the dogs to run around (which hopefully they will not revoke!). We took a picnic lunch out and hung out for a low key afternoon. A couple shots of the day:

Seriously we are under a month now until we get married. Work has finally slowed down but the wedding stuff has picked up. Monday night M and I bottled 100 bottles of beer (on the wall). I finally have the programs ready to print and an assembled. Bridal shower down next weekend Vegas! Seriously it is all approaching so quickly, then it is off to Dominican Republic. CAN NOT wait.

Me and my sisters at the bridal shower, yes my face is red, I blame them I had to take jello shots. I mean seriously how was I supposed to remember Malone was the first place he made his first skydive. I mean really!?!? It was perfect, they baseball themed it and we ate sliders and garlic fries, beer, champagne, seriously a ton of my favorites, oh and ice cream cake! By the way I wish I were taller! They were in flats and I was in my typical 3". Here is to the next 30 days moving by and being on our honeymoon!

So after a week of craziness at work I sat down yesterday to catch up on the blog world. And you know what my mac was dead and apparently the charger is not working. Que immediate phone call to M (due to him being out of town).

M: Hi babe

Me: My computer is dead and the charger is not working.

M: Yea I know it stopped working this week (our animals have a "thing" for my mac power cords).

Me: And you didn't think to tell me, orrrr go get a new one?

M: Well you ordered one off the internet last time

Me: Did you think I could buy one off the internet with a dead computer?

M: Well ummm

Seriously do men use their brain?

So that is the side note as I am actually watching Easy A which is amazing pretty good. And while watching it all I can think of is Penn Badgley. Seriously when did I get a thing for the nerdy guy. The statistician at work, oh yeah. For someone who can name off different Star Wars ships or whatever other sci-fi stuff there is out there, dang you are a cutie.

Well off to bed with my honey. Oh yeah 53 days, crazy, I actually at one point did not think I was the marrying kind. Now. 53 days out. Woop woop!

Not sure if work is ever going to let up. M is even noticing the difference in my attitude when I get home. It is taking me longer to relax and I am pretty sure that any chipper attitude I might of had during the week has not been seen. All in my head these days is SOP 97-2, FAS123R or SOP 98-1. Seriously what? At least I have this goofball to come home to and never fails to make me laugh.

On a brighter note we had 80 degree weather today. 80! How do we go from my backyard flooded a week ago to 80?!? So as it hits 7:30 pm I am chilling on the patio with a beer in hand. This is the life. Hopefully everyone else has as great of weather!

All the single ladies

Yep, M is off to Mrs. B's hometown for his bachelor party this weekend. He called me when he touched down down in nola and he was a few drinks in already, with I am sure more than a few to go for tonight. So what does that mean? Means girls weekend for me a Chloe (not including the cat, damn cat).

So not sure if anyone has caught the weather news when it comes to the Bay Area but it has been a little nuts. Tonight I can home to this:

Seriously thank goodness I saw this mess before Chloe the little rascal saw it herself, because I know the second she did it would of been disastrous. By the way it does not look like the backyard is going to have any chance of drying up either. They said 2 more storms coming through. Ughhh I really hope the forecast for sunnier weather next week holds true!

If anything here is to a girly weekend sitting in front of the fire (well if I can call someone to start one for me) and watching the Lifetime Network. Stay dry!

What seems like years ago, I discussed my pure obsession with Bradley Cooper. Of course it has gone no where, and since he has split from Renee, now is my chance. M and I have an agreement, this is my guy. If I have a chance with him I am jumping on it. I mean come on!

I LOVE the fact that M wants to get the house actually "up and going" since his family will be here for the wedding. Gives him a little room for justification of purchases, and bumps up the projects to actually get some done. The living room in FINALLY put back together after a month and a half. The next step would be to pick out the crown moulding and the new baseboards and put those in. Somehow I doubt that will be getting done anytime soon though. Hey a girl can dream though can't she. . . Maybe I can at least hope for a painted bedroom?

I think the next item on my list is my deer head. . .

So since I started the new job my responsibilities have almost tripled (yes I started in December) how the hell can responsibilities triple in a matter of 3 months! Life sucks in regards to work right now. And that leave less time for blogging, I know right!??!

But I have a number of things keeping me busy outside of work as well.

Hard knock life

This past week has been a rough one. Last Monday we started out with the wedding location being sold, work was insanely crazy and I ended up sick over the weekend. Monday with the wedding planner/caterer went well and everything seems as if it is going to work out just wonderfully, that is until yesterday when we went to one of our counseling sessions with the church. It started out the same as the sessions we bring up topics that we have different view points and try to create a solution. Well needless to say it is a topic that we often do not see eye to eye and at the end of the session the counselor said something to us that made me doubt "us" and I have been thinking about it ever since.

So I put this out there, to those who are in forever relationships, how do you know? How do I get back to where I was knowing we would get through whatever after someone allows me to doubt us so much? Does this mean we should not be getting married?

Totally very random, kind of where my week has been. . .

Monday started off just craptastically, after FINALLY calling the owner of the coldstone near the wedding venue to move things along I found out the just oh so wonderful news. Work has been crazy hectic. M Also found out Monday that he was headed to Montreal on Wednesday, returning Thursday.

Why are cats tongues rough while dogs are not - ADD kicking in there. Well more just Icarus trying to lick me. Kind of a funny picture right now with both the animal kids laying on top of me. I would take a picture except for the fact that would require getting up and then they would too.

I finally finished the bunting I have been in the process of making. And by process I mean almost everything except a long last stitch that has been waiting for me for 3 weeks.

ooh ooh my hair feather came today too! Want to take a wild guess at which one of these I went for? Or did I go totally different?

Alright off to bed, off to bed I said. Happy Friday east coasters, happy almost Friday west coasters! Thank goodness for three day weekends!

I was speaking with the owner of the nearby ColdStone (yep ice cream sundae bar for our wedding - hopefully will still ring true) and needed to give them the address. So I just mosey on over to the website to find that they sold everything. Immediately I called the contact to figure out what is going on, and they do not know many details until they speak with the new owners Monday. Here's to giving a little prayer that things will be able to stay the same (crossing fingers ever so tightly).

By the way M is amazing, I found out the info and immediately handed it over to him to deal with. He can handle it much better (i.e. calmly) and will probably even get some money back if all works out. I knew I was marrying him for a reason.

It is one of those weeks! One where I cannot seem to catch my breath as the days are just passing me by. Today was the first day I actually was able to step outside while the sun was up. The sun felt glorious, although it makes me a little sad that I will not be spending my time outside this weekend. This weekend M and I have out P.R.E.P weekend for the church, so we will be spending a glorious two days talking. Ughh not my strong suit. You can find lots of dirt under my carpets.

So here is to hoping for a great weekend with LOTS of quality time with the guy. And to the count down to next weekend of which there will be three amazing work free days. Hope to catch up soon!

I am letting you guys in on a little secret, my wedding dress is on its way! I got an e-mail this morning that my dress is on its way. I cannot wait to see it, so excited. Except of course it is on the way to my parents house so it will be a couple weeks before I can get out there to try it on.

So I called my Mom to let her know the dress is on its way (since it is going to my parent's house) and she told me some not great info. This little guy here:

...is not doing so well. This is my "nephew" Hercules and he had a seizure on Sunday and things according to his blood tests do not look good. His mom (my sister-in-law) has been sick for the past month or so is also having blood work done because they cannot figure out what is wrong with her. Dose after dose of antibiotics have done nothing. And to think today was going to be a good day...

More specifically it is the week of my birthday! I have 2 days left of being in my twenties, so thirties Bring it On! But seriously I have definitely heard from people to enjoy the thirties because it was a favorite time of their life. So for the next decade of my life I would really like to accomplish some more things, including:

1. Travel more (starting with the honeymoon baby!)

2. Pass the CPA

3. Eat healthier (no really I need to cut back on the crap I eat)

4. Find a hobby that I truly love and am excited to do.

These are just a couple of items that I would love to make sure I accomplish (hey I have 10 years right). I am willingly saying goodbye to my twenties, I have had a TON of fun but that fun also dealt with uncertainty and uncomfortableness of life in general.

Friday M has put together a dinner party at our house with family and friends, which I am super excited about. What I am not excited about it he decided to tear open our living room wall Sunday night. I know I know, I wanted all the TV wires not hanging from the TV, but why is this project being started when we are having people over?! Why do men decide to start a project just before you have people over?!?!

Well hopefully at least the wall will be put back together by Friday, because I am pretty sure it will not be painted at that point :( Aggghhh men!

The damn cat

I am so frustrated with the damn cat! This guy right there.

No not so cute these days.

He is constantly on the counters. On Sunday I took meat out of the freezer to thaw out and knowing that we had been having problems with him I covered it in plastic wrap and put in a back corner. Fast forward ten minutes and he had taken the plastic wrap off and was going to town on the hamburger meat! This was two days after I thought he was eating his dinner and Chloe decided she needed to go out, well out we went, I came back in seconds later and the entire bag of dog food was all over the floor. Last week he took the drain out of the sink.

No matter how much double sided tape and squirts with the water guns he keeps doing it. Aluminum foil, nothing, he just decided to chew it up. So I did some googling to find some recommendations and came across the Ssscat. Well I ordered one for our kitchen and then I came across some of the videos with people using it. Seriously check it out:

So funny, yet I am also a little concerned about using it cause it seems a little mean. Although somehow I think that to keep Icarus off we might have to line the counters with a bunch of them. Any thoughts from anyone? Any tricks that have worked?

New "Traditions"

So yesterday I bought this box:

Well the box will say our last name and so forth. M and I were not fans of the sand deal and found out from our priest that the unity candle had no tradition significance, so we decided to do something that would be a little more "us". And what do we love almost as much as each other (I know gag right), we love wine. So we are going to go with this new trend people are doing and sealing up two letters, a bottle of wine, and anything else we would like to see in 5 or ten years. In other news M ordered the cables for the TV so we (him) can crack open the wall to hide it all and then we can paint the living room. then next will be painting the bedroom so since the bedroom will finally be painted I have been looking around for decorating items and I am obsessed with the mirror behind the table lamps idea. I serioulsy cannot wait. M and I finally booked our honeymoon. Ten days of being e-mail-less, cell phone-less and just time with the new hubs. Hmmm I wonder if I will kill him, I kid I kid.

We still have numerous "checklist" items to take care of and various activities (catholic P.R.E.P weekend, pre-marital counsling, bridal shower and of course the bachlor and bachlorette parties!) But now that the honeymoon is actually booked I am starting to get excited. I can NOT wait.

Working it

Three day weekends should be mandatory every weekend. I am finally able to catch up on laundry, today M and I are going to look at wedding bands, I am getting back into the working out thing (even though today is a day off because of how sore I am). And today i am getting a massage! Oh I cannot wait it has been so long since I have had one. I also stopped by JoAnns to pick up a couple things for some more projects. So house projects. During my blogging break I worked on many different projects. Remember this teal garden stool? Well now it looks much more like this:

I also finally made the bench for our outdoor patio set.

You see those pillows on the bench yep made those too. I was tired of trying to find outside patio pillows in colors and patterns I wanted so I took matters into my own hands. With these pillows I learned how to add zippers too so I was able to add pillow inserts (made from old pillow cases) so that I can wash the pillows when needed.

Can you tell our color for outside is green? The next big house project, painting our bedroom. Since M installed the ceiling fan and repaired the wall that our lovely Chloe decided to chew up we have some painting to do. Which we knew we would always do it was just a matter of timing since we knew we would be cutting into the wall.

Now off to finish the fireplace screen... and putting laundry away. Here is to three day weekends!

Just one of those days

I knew when I woke up this morning that I did not want to get out of bed.

I learned that a good friend of mine's father is most likely in his final days. He was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer on Thanksgiving day and has been through a world of suffering since. Just yesterday they removed the feeding tube that has been sustaining him and I believe at this moment they are keeping him comfortable.

I weep for my friend and I pray for her and her family. Much love.

Yikes, I am under the five month mark for our wedding and there is still, well most of our stuff to do. Except I just spoke with ColdStone and ice cream sundae bar here we come! Now all we need to do is actually go in and figure out which ice cream flavors we want served!

Holy cow I am getting old. Yesterday was our annual girls Scott's brunch. For three years running we have gotten all the girls together in January to close out the holidays with brunch. If you do not know about Scott's Champagne Jazz Brunch you are missing out. This brunch is notorious (at least with our group) for good times. All you can eat, all you can drink mimosa leaves me with a full belly and a 7 p.m. bedtime, this year was no different. This morning when I started thinking a little clearer the guilt started, probably even more so because we are looking at booking our honeymoon this week. Organizational void

Arrrgghhhh the animals are driving me crazy! I swear they know they outnumber me right now. M is out of town for two nights and they are walking all over me, and I am the strict one. Ohhhh how I worry how I will deal with kids one day.

Moving along, so I started with the linen closet this weekend and the first thing was to get the stuff out of there that did not belong in there. Next I noticed that there are certain things in bags that to me cause a little clutter so how do i fix it, enter the empty jars that was also in the closet, spiff it up and there you go.

A cuter better way to store my cotton balls and another to figure out something to put in. Now if I can just finish the closet, but i have a feeling that is a long way off... Any hints, tricks or anything to help with a linen closet that a fiance goes in and just throws stuff around in there? Any help is appreciated!

Sunday bloody Sunday

Whewww... was yesterday a whirlwind. Yeah sure it took me a while to get out of bed but when I did I found this mess.

Marcel has gotten up before me and destroyed our house. Not in a literal sense but my M had pulled out the boxes and started the process and then decided to move on to the project of the ceiling fan in our bedroom. I love my guy to death but holy moly does he has ADD.

At the end of the day it all ended up cleaned up and we ended up with a brand new spankin ceiling fan with an overhead light! Yeah I do not understand why houses were not built with overhead lighting? Seriously?!?!?! So we my boy toy put up our light this weekend with a ceiling fan. I cannot wait to use it once the weather gets warm. Although I would just prefer it to stay like this. I know I know blah blah blah, but I like the cold weather. So check it out, our new fan/light. Plus it has a remote that we could put right near the bed so there is no having to fight over who has to get up to turn it off. Once we figure out actual room settings it could move.

So much to do still to do in our room, like paint, but first thing comes first and that is the living room. The picture above at least the garland is hiding the wires and the tree is hiding where a shelf has been ripped off, and the paint is still gross from the previous owners, so that room comes first! Crossing fingers still that the wires will be done for my birthday.

I also worked on organizing our linen closet this weekend. Not to much progress yet but at least I know whats in there now. Now for the long week (since the previous two were short). Here is to a great 2011. I cannot believe I am getting married this year!!!!

Oh yeah New Years was ok but nothing exciting, pretty standard. Cheers to the work week.

Live like there is no tomorrow

The coming of the new year is always a time to reflect on the past and this year has brought me/us some good fortune and some tough times. I just passed the 2 year anniversary of my grandfathers death and I am now watching a close friend deal with her fathers cancer. With times like that I decided that my New Years resolution for 2011 is to live like there is no tomorrow. I need to learn to take life by the horns and take advantage of what I have.

Notable times from 2010 include:

Buying our first home.
Brought our girl Chloe home (and dealt with her parvo) and got a cat.
Watched my little sister get married.
Lost my job due to the acquisition.
Did more wedding planning, found my shoes and most recently the dress.
Most recently M and I got our first new car (well not brand new but for us who are both driving cars from the mid 90's its a big deal).

Here's to 2011, a year that is shaping up to be one of the biggest of my life, the year I become a Mrs. Cheers to a happy and safe night!

M tried to surprise me by having my earrings reset. The long story short, my 16th birthday from my Dad was my diamond earrings, well the setting was loose and I thought I lost one at one point (we later found it in the wash). But I was pretty devastated and I have not worn them since, about 6 years ago. So M had them reset so I could wear them again.

No rain boots, I might just have to pull the trigger, I mean pay day is in a day ;) And talk about using them, it has been raining like crazy!

Hope everyone got at least some things they desired. I am so appreciative for those things that I did receive!

Its over?@!#??? The thing about Christmas is that the holiday season is near the end and it makes me a little sad. The holiday season to me is a time to hang out with my family. This year also marks the last of the holidays with just my family. I love M and I am also a little selfish and it is going to be really hard to give up "my" traditions of being with my family during the holidays. Once we get married I have to give up "my" traditions and start ours, and this year was the start of it. Long story short, we started acclimating Christmas into our house and less into my parents. Moving on...

So while I was "gone" one of the things we did was go camping. I know how do you take Louboutins camping????? Well I left them at home and actually took my Keens, wait what? Who ever thought. So for camping we headed up to the coast and got the best weather for the weekend. Bodega Bay yeah typically foggy, we actually got sun! My favorite part of the weekend? Watching these two run around like crazy dogs.

The entire weekend was a blast, it included a lot of beer, beermosas, food, cows, and cuddling with Chloe. And really just because I can:

Bringing it back

I thought I was going to have a brief hiatus has now turned into 6 months, yikes! During that time I had my last couple months at my previous company to help with the transition, went on unemployment, and started working for my old boss at his new company.

Not only that, we bought a new car, I found my wedding dress, continued to make plans for the wedding (which I cannot believe is just over a mere six months away now), and started and actually finished some house projects.

As I work on getting caught up on everyones lives I will also update you on mine and hopefully that means returning to our normal programming.

Fit for a king

So this past weekend I picked up a ceramic garden stool for sixteen whole dollars and I log in today to One Kings Lane and what to my surprise? Garden stools! Only guess what I got my still about 80% cheaper then they were on OKL. Ummmmm score one for me.

This past Monday I was at the vet with Chloe AGAIN. She had been sneezing repeatedly over and over so in we went. Turns out she didn't have anything up her nose but it was inflamed, another $400 later. Seriously dog, most expensive dog ever!

I think I might of finally gotten somewhere wedding wise with M! We are in process of making a decision on centerpieces. I was the one who really didn't want to spend any money on centerpieces, sure pretty weddings are particularly awesome but for me it is not about being pretty. M on the other hand really wants things like centerpieces and flowers, the flowers for me is a big waste of money. So I am thinking vases like this (they have a couple different designs)

Then do simple baby's breath and then maybe some tea light candles inside mason jars. Or maybe do various size mason jars and the candle inside is based on the size of the mason jar? Thoughts please. Would be great to have a total plan figured out before I chatted M up and convinced him.

What a weekend!!! Taking off early Friday was awesome! I got home, relaxed, cuddled with the pup and started the crock pot with some delish chicken for dinner. When M got home we took off for the open space for some QT with Chloe.

We have such great open space around us and Chloe is able to run around like a crazy girl off-leash. Which is a good thing, especially since what happened at our local dog park last week. Craziness I tell you!

On Saturday we had a quiet morning and then I took Chloe to her dog class in the afternoon. After class we went and picked up a life vest for her (for our canoeing and camping trip). After that I made a few errands and found this beauty at Big Lots.

Seriously found this for $14.00, the color works great for the guest room right now since it is teal, but because it will belong outside I plan to paint it green to go with some of our outdoor stuff. I also started another project for the backyard so more to come later on that.

Sunday was a "day of rest" well not really, we headed to church Sunday morning and I think we actually found one to register at so now its just moving forward with it. I also went to do a little dress shopping with the Mamasita and sisters and then came home and drank some margaritas. Seriously if you want to go the easy route but deliciousness of fresh home made margaritas try Tommy's.

That's what little boys are made of. Big boys you say? Well they are made of frogs and snails and procrastination. Yep M is a major procrastinator when it comes to all things he even considers girly, example, everything wedding related. (Full disclosure you may choose to leave as most of this relates to that said wedding).

So six months ago when we booked our location I asked him if the church we had gone to together was the one he wanted to register at (we need to register to attend Pre-Cana in order to be married in the church), he said yes and so we continued about our lives. Skip ahead a couple months to actually picking up the registration packet and he decides nope, not the church from him. Excuse me?!?! Well then you find one! Still a month or so later now nothing has been decided.

Oh and he also didn't like the save the dates that I came up with so he is also now supposed to figure that out. M is a true believer in the phrase "whatever you want honey" and then turning around after and not liking it and changing it around after I put the effort into it. List of things that he decided to veto after I decided and he finally gave his input on.

1. Bridesmaids carrying clutches instead of flowers.

2. Decorations

3. Save the Dates

4. "Appetizers"

5. Kinda the most important the bridal party size (myself am only having 2, my sisters, he wants more but feels the need to have them even on both sides)

Needless to say I am about ready to give up or just make the decision and pull the trigger. And he wonders why there are some things I just do and tell him after (sort of like when I called the garage repair man to come replace the spring because after a month he still had not ordered the part).

Ok I am off my high horse, now off to find purple ties and socks... so long lovelies!

Wedding Bells

No not mine yet, but M and I were in our good friends wedding this past weekend so I have been a little off the map celebrating and then recuperating from this past weekend. Pictures will come but probably not until I see everyone elses, or the professional since I certainly did not take any. It was a wonderful weekend and so full of fun. Their rehearsal dinner was held at Campo di Bocce. If you are in the Bay Area and want a fun way to have dinner, it was a ton of fun. The grooms parents set up a bocce tournament and picked names out of a hat. I had the grooms dad as a member of my team and M had the grooms mom. Crazy thing is we were the two teams who went to the championship. Saturday was the wedding and it was a veryyyyy long day. Sunday nap time! So lucky to have Miss Chloe stay with my sister because she was worn out from playing with her cousin and very kindly let me sleep all afternoon.

So yesterday I found the goody spin pin! I have been looking for these since I saw the commercial for them and finally found them at Walgreens yesterday.

Thus far I have to rate them really high. They are awesome. I have a ton of hair and a couple bobby pins never do the trick, well these do it for me, I really like them now and will probably use these going forward instead of throwing my hair in a pony tail. Magic!

So I have some pictures from cupcake class! I also highly recommend it. So its a bit pricey but you also walk out with about $50 in cupcakes so yeah my co-workers loved me. I previously talked about my sisters taking me to class as an engagement gift, so they decided that I needed an apron to go along with the class.

Future Mrs is what it says and I have cupcakes all over it. So I had to do a pose since we sent the picture off to M since I knew he would get a kick out of it. Yep he is a bit of a mush. So in class we learned how to make the vanilla cupcake, chocolate sour cream cupcake, vanilla frosting and cream cheese frosting. We also got the recipes to take home and a bunch of goodies. Super fun, totally recommend. Here is picture of the end of it all with our "teacher".

Ugghhh drives me bananas that I am the shortest, where did the little sister get her long legs jeans?

The weekend was pretty great, Saturday I ran over to Home Goods to find some finds for the house and then headed to TJ Max where I found this.

Chloe now has a "camelback" too. Well not really a camelback but she has a backpack and can now carry her own water when we hike. We are going to have an adjustment period because she just stood there after I put it on and refused to walk. She looked at me like she thought she was incapable of walking with it on. On Sunday we went over to Point Isabel for Chloe and my sister's dog Layla to go swimming. Super great area for dogs, it is off leash and they can go into the Bay, so we threw some sticks in the water and off they went for them. We also got her a pool this weekend. So fun for future hot days.

It's Friday beeeaatches! and I am in love

Seriously so excited for the end of the day, and surprisingly I actually have done some work today, actually all day. So here are my loves.

1. Digging the music on my bose headphones right now. Seriously obsessed with Katy Perry's California Gurls right now. Even discussed it here. Also obsessing over B.o.B and airplanes, oh and of course Lady A's Need You Now. Seriously rocking out and dancing in my chair at work, so what if I look like a fool!

Today was a little weird, but not really weird just uncommon. Started the day with the Controller of the acquiring company coming up to me and asking to speak with me at some point during the day. FINALLY! A little more details. Well when we met it was not really any new details just confirmation from the other side of what I already knew.

The hard thing is, what to do. If I wait it out until September the severance and stay bonus could be really helpful as we are planning our wedding and STILL paying Chloe's vet bills, oh and we both need new cars. But if I cannot find a job after then we could really burn through the money quite quickly. So the decision, how do I make it? Any suggestions?

The end of the day we were out of there by 4 pm. So was everyone else in San Francisco and Oakland. I do not think I have ever seen Bart that busy. The reason the Mehserle trial. For those who maybe are not Bay Area peeps this is a trial that was caused by a New Years killing of a man by a Bart police officer (Mehserle). It has been a big thing and last year there were some serious riots and a lot of disruption. So when people found out the verdict was being read people high tailed their way out of work to catch bart in case of any further riots. Anyways the long winded story of a day.

Ok so going to stop before I just keep going and going. So tooddllees. Would really love to hear thoughts on the job deal though!!

Since M and I have dealt with 2 moves, busy season at work and all his travel for work my sisters could not find a weekend to throw us an engagement party. So since they couldn't buckle a day they are being so awesome and taking me to teacake to take their cupcake class tonight. Of course you get to walk away with cupcakes in hand too! So today may have been a little lame but at least tonight will rock! Now only if they served champagne while we were baking... Suggestion Box!

Exactly my life. Work blows, yes I lived in it for a couple days, loving the lack of anything to do. Now I am bored out of my mind! Tomorrow I have another interview, this is number 3, but I am so done with this already. Not something I wanted to be doing at this point, and it just sucks, it is hard to get excited about possible opportunities when that is not something that I really want right now. So another interview tomorrow, I found out today that interview #2 wants me to come back in to interview with the owner and the staff that would be working for me, which is good news but then again uggghhhh, I just want it all to end.

This weekend, nothing exciting, I am going to try a new project for the house, still on the search for the perfect mirror for the hallway. Hopefully with the interview process my motivation is starting to come back, I need something to move me forward!

Nothing fun, nothing pretty today. Sorry dolls. Here is to moving forward with everything in life!

Icarus

So I figured out that I have not introduced anyone to Icarus (yes that was M's decision, he named him after his parachute). I guess I realized to because he is being so sweet since we chopped off his balls yesterday (and yes I said that because it is more fun to say than the appropriate terms). After we introduced Chloe and Icarus. The are pretty much best friends now and of course when one wants to play the other, not so much.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! For me it was oh so lovely. Saturday was a pretty low key day, dog park, church and then to my parents to prepare for father's day. It was a fun low key night, with ice cream sundaes done up just like we used to. I would say somewhere along the lines of the deliciousness except times ten (when it comes to my family our serving size for ice cream has us go through about a gallon of it).

My Dad had a blast next time I will probably bring Chloe with us (not this time since I was not sure how she would react and is not "properly" trained yet. After the river we headed back to my parents for a good steak dinner and banana pudding. Such a good day. Now on to what will be another looooonnnnggg week. Happy Monday!

Ok so I am soooo ready for the weekend. As I sit here at my desk I am watching Tuesdays episode of The Hills. Why? Because I am so bored I want to scratch my eyes out. Yes, I really shouldn't complain but it has been like this for two weeks now, my day is never ending. My check book is balanced, calendar is updated and every single blog has been read ) probably every blog in the universe too). So how do I get something written on my blog, well considering how boring my life is right now, I haven't the faintest idea.

Well here is a little more wedding crap. I seriously cannot make up my mind when it comes to dresses for my sisters. Purple is our wedding color, a bright purple, something along the lines of this (from pantone.com):
The only problem is I think dresses is in this color is a bit much for my liking. So I have been looking at a grey (not heather grey) and thinking having them where a cardigan in the purple would be a lot of fun. Then I moved on to navy blue for the dress with the purple cardigan on top. One thing for sure is I want it to be a sundress.

So my reasoning for giving you this whole long spiel is because I need help (M just says "whatever you want" no not whatever I want I need help!). So what are your thoughts. Here are 2 dresses I was looking at (the first is anntaylorloft.com and the second and third is anthropologie.com (in two different shades of blue).

I am also on the search for the color purple cardigan I would like, the closest I have found thus far was on oldnavy.com like this. My default is to go with a pashmina if I cannot ever find the purple just right since those are available in a million and one colors. So please help, let me know your thoughts.

Lackluster

I have been trying to think of decorating ideas and ideas for the direction I want our wedding to go but as of lately I have been feeling really just blah about it all. I see endless pictures that I love, but none have anything to do with the other, so as far as trying to see the direction that all these pictures that I like, it gets me nowhere. See that sentence is a bunch of mumbo jumbo too. I have no direction these days with where things are going, job selections seem little to none, I cannot put together how I want the house to look (not even a single room) and the weddings plans, not progressing. Well at least I have the Real Housewives of New Jersey, ahhhhh how "great" life can be.

I know, I know eventually everything will come together, but for now, my life is half complete. Just need to find the pieces to complete puzzle.

Interview Time

So tomorrow morning I have my first of what I am sure to be many interviews that I will have. As I noted here, my company is being acquired so I will be out of a job. So I need some interview clothes, I have not bought a new suit since 2004, yep it has been THAT long. The thing that is a little rough is that due to my field it is a very suit oriented interview, there is no expressing yourself with trying to change it up or do anything other than your standard suit and blouse.

So now it is finding something, and quick since it is tomorrow at 8 a.m. My first stop was of course Banana Republic to see if they had anything. Nope, nada, except for the summer cotton suits which for interview situation, not the best. JCrew, can't do, their pants are not a fit. So at lunch it is off to Saks, maybe Theory will have something that works. This sucks, I much rather be trying these on (all pictures from saks.com):

I have seriously had a hankering for a new pair of gorgeous/fun shoes for awhile now and yet the only pair I will allow myself to spend any significant amount of money on at this time is the pair I will wear on our wedding day. And yet, I cannot find something that I truly love/must have for that day so I refuse to settle and keep looking. I need a serious shoe fairy to pop up and point me to shoe heaven to find the perfect pair.

Starting this afternoon, M is out of town for a bachelor party and I get the house to myself. I have a few craft projects in mind that I want to get done and a barbecue for my cousin who is being deployed. Ahhhh a quiet house for all the girly t.v. I want.

BBQ and Country, What?!?!?

That's right, in the Bay Area, WHAT? And San Francisco none the less and San Francisco is about as non-country as you get but that is right the Zac Brown Band is coming to Fort Mason. See more information here: 95.7 the Wolf. So excited, now I just need to convince M that it is worth taking a day off from skydiving to go. I mean the city at the end of July should have excellent weather, BBQ, country music and I am sure alcohol. Country fans are the most party hard, well maybe not but at least everyone is there to have a good time.

So if you like country music check it out, and send some words of encouragement M's way since I need all the help I can get to help convince him that it will be wayyy more fun then skydiving.

Yep seriously I only have the one. Bradley Cooper. I look at him and I get tingly. I first saw him when he was the "bad guy" in "He's Just Not that In to You" and could not stop staring, seriously droolworthy. And when he showed up in my favorite movie ever (as noted here) I was in love. Seriously if I ever met him, I would probably act like a nervous teenager and become all weird. East Coast vs. West Coast

Ok so my favorite thing about the west coast (more specifically California and the Bay Area) is the weather. I LOVE San Francisco (and no we NEVER say Frisco) is the mild temperature and the fog, yep I love fog. So this morning when I got off bart and saw the weather I stopped for a minute. Kinda needed to make sure I knew where I was, cause this is the weather:

One year from today I will be going to the chapel, and were gonna get married. I know this next year is going to fly by and all of a sudden I am going to be standing in front of a priest saying I do. Which for me a couple years ago was totally not even on my radar. But, M came along and ~~swept me off my feet~~ supplied me with enough booze and home brew to keep this girl passed out. Just kidding, I love my man and it is just nice that a nice cold beer awaits me when I get home. So with this being the year until date we need to step up and start getting some things checked off our list. One of the items our attire.

Anyone who knows me my our wedding is not about the dress, I have actually looked into maybe borrowing a dress or buying used because for me I don't really feel like putting money into it. Now shoes, that is a TOTALLY different story. Of course I want the red sole, and I also want them to scream, look at how hot we are (we being the pair). I will not be the bride looking for the "Oh you look so beautiful" comment, I want the "OMG your shoes!" comment. So the second we were engaged I did not start looking at dresses, I started with the shoes. So I have been on the search and have come across a couple. First it was this pair

The Lavender Poseidon at Barneys.com. Gorgeous by for $1200 but they were not perfect.

Then there were these, which definitely got a Holy Cow! when I saw them pop up on NeimanMarcus.com

Once I saw them in person they were a little less purple though and more magenta so I kind of gave up on those.

I randomly came across these on this site: http://forum.purseblog.com/ and someone had posted them. These would be absolutely perfect and totally what I had in mind. The $1700 price tag though, not so much. Plus on top of it these were a spring shoe especially for the South Coast Plaza boutique, so this lizard is probably extinct. Hmmm I guess I could always e-mail the boutique just out of curiosity...

Not so neverland

So I have been missing, well there have been many things going on, bachlorette weekend, housewarming party prep, Chloe finally acting like a puppy. We have been so crazy busy with things trying to get all the little things done for the housewarming party that our poor pup has been feeling a bit neglected and the cat thinking he is king of all things (oh yeah we got a cat too, one who has spent the last couple weeks hopping around the house). I wish I was still in Neverland Peter, the adultland is draining my fun.

So the biggest project of all? Our new patio table. Seriously this is what I have been working on for the past week and a half (that and studying for the CPA exam, well sort of). We are super proud of it. Of course I was the starter of the project but I had to have M's help on the finishing end in order to help assemble it. The next project on hand is the bench and chairs to go with it. We will get there at some point.

The next thing that was taken care of was the guest bathroom mirror.

Seriously this was the mirror that we moved in to. I hated it, despised it. So since the move in date I have been looking for something to replace it with. Finally while strolling through Home Depot I found something that can work with the current bathroom.

So much better, and you can actually see yourself in the mirror previously I swear all you could see was your eyes so this is a HUGE improvement. Still not my ideal but it will definitely do until we can afford to have the bathroom itself redone.

So these are some of the things that I have been doing over the past couple weeks. Oh and now it is on to redoing my resume, since its time that I have to find a new job, the first person (post acquisition announcement) has announced their departure. Sad and I hate it but I guess it is time. So time to update and get my name out there!

Yeah it was awhile ago but hey I have no problem waiting if I am going to get some cash back! Seriously just give me an IV full of it! This morning I had to be up at 3 a.m. just to file our quarterly report. Shit hit the fan on Friday and needless to say I was making calls and editing the report at 10 p.m. last night and up earlllyyyy this morning to make sure it hit the wire. It is my last filing with the company though because of the acquisition :(

In other news now I will have some time and will be in full wedding planning phase trying to get stuff checked off. Chloe gets her last vaccinations and spayed on Wednesday so I get some time at home with her on Thursday and Friday. so excited to take some time at home! I cannot wait for my 4 day weekend! Oh and pictures came from my little sisters wedding. Love this picture, minus the gargantuan swimmer arms that are showing in the picture.

It really did turn our beautifully. Love you seester.

Well hellooo there! The title today somewhat rings true. Since I found out last week that my company was being acquired I have been counting the days until we file our 10-Q this week because after that, its a tad downhill. Even though there has been no formal announcement about my departments jobs, being the non revenue making group we are it is pretty much guaranteed that we will be out of jobs. The whole thing hit me pretty hard and I think I am still trying to let it sink in. Hey what can I say, I like my co-workers and we have a good time with one another.

On the bright side of it all, a friend of mine got laid off last week (well that isn't the bright side part) but our "pity-party" Friday night was. M fired up the grill and I popped open the champagne (of the red label of sorts of course). It took me a little while to get out of bed on Saturday but once I did all hell broke loose in our front yard. Weeds beware, I am after you! I cannot wait until I finally get it in good shape (hopefully in time for the housewarming party). My neighbors confirmed what M and I thought, the previous owners only mowed the lawn for the past 5 years, anything else, forget it.

As the weekend continued into Sunday we headed out to Clayton (remember my love for their Oktobeerfest?) for their Art and Wine Festival where we had absolutely gorgeous weather, 83 to be exact. We spent the day outside and then headed home to grill up some food with my sisters. I seriously love having a home and having a fiance who loves hosting as much as I do. This is what our home is for, us and all our loved ones. I am off to catch some zzz's.

I am headed over with a very good friend who is back from London! Woop woop, although my damage in the stores seem to increase when she is around. But hey now whe can help my look for some wedding shoes. I would love to be able to brake the bank but I must somehow refrain since the dog already did.

NoSo I mentioned here and here about these Tory Burch wedges. I finally was able to sneak them out of the car and into the house, when it comes to shoes I like to quietly rotate them into the collection (although M ALWAYS notices). So here are they are!

Ahhhh, a perfect add to my wedges, I have tan, bronze.. etc but no chocolate brown so now I do! Now I just need a cute summer dress that will go with them and then I can put on display on Sunday for the Bridal Shower. Wow come July I think we are done with weddings except for ours and the little sisters. Oh joy joy.

So tonight to try to make everything go a little better this week I am sitting in front of the tv with something so delicious next to me. Yep one of my new favorites, how I love spring and summer brews! By the way I am pretty amazed by my ability to have the light ok in this picture. Seriously I need photo classes or something cause I suck! Alright I am off... on to try to finish my shoes. Yea I kinda hated the big studs so I took them off and am now doing smaller ones. Uggghhh please tell me that Friday is here! I very much need a weekend because I had a non-existent weekend. Yeah quarter end sucks my butt! Next weekend I cannot wait! Saturday I will spend with my little girl and Sunday is a bridal shower for one of my good friends so basically it is a girls day with good food and drinks.

We finally set a date for our housewarming party, May 29th! Yep Memorial weekend. The Beirut table will be coming out along with the cornhole game and the homebrew! Ahhh perfect way to have a 3-day weekend. You guys around? Stop by, M makes some of the best homebrew around!

It would be ohhh so nice now if M and I actually have a serious conversation about booking a vacation, I am in serious need of some relaxation!

Meet Chloe

So I have been a very bad blogger, life has been calling and the dog is now taking up some time. But I got a semi-decent picture of her, so meet my girl. Yea she was mid lick so her lip is a little crooked. And yes she is missing some hair on her leg, that is where the IV was due to the parvo, thank goodness she is home now! She is awesome, soft as can be and currently our shadow, she follows us everywhere.

M was so sure that there would be no dog in the bed, no dogs allowed. Hmmm guess who pulled her up on the bed this morning. Hope everyone's weekend is going well.

Guilty pleasures

I am very guilty today. Not supposed to be spending any money (Chloe is now our Platinum Retreiver) and I picked up 2 dresses today on Hautelook.com. I have a few Matty M items and love them, all the materials are super soft and the brand seems to fit me well, so I jumped on it and grabbed the dresses. I do have 2 more weddings this year so figured I needed some for bridal showers, bachlorette, rehersal dinner etc. So oh well I am only young once right. Loving them, and no worries the white one will not be worn to an actual wedding. I have my beautiful bridesmaid dresses for that (can you sense the sarcasm?)

In other related news this weekend is my little sister's wedding. So crazy! So today is Friday for me! Tomorrow it is rehersal, mani-pedis and some great Mexican food for dinner. Now I should probably get back to work since I need to get out of here because I still have not written my maid of honor speach.... opps
